Our Services

A little about us

What started as a little firewood project to help stash away money for our kids’ college funds, has evolved into a full-blown land management business, serving clients year round.

Our service area spans Northeast Washington, from Cheney to the Canadian Border. We proudly serve clients in North Idaho as well, including Spirit Lake, Blanchard, Oldtown, Priest River, and Priest Lake areas. Based in Elk, Washington, our equipment is ready to go in any direction, as well as be an asset to our community members here in the Elk, Deer Park, and Chattaroy areas.

We feel our services encompass nearly any need you may have for your property development prep work, to managing the land and trees to help with wildfire prevention too.

All bids on projects are free. If you have a need, please do not hesitate to give our team a call. We would rather discuss the potential of it and if we cannot help you, we know who can!

We look forward to serving you in 2025!

DNR Cost-Sharing

One of the unique services we offer, and promote to our community members especially, is the DNR Cost-Share Program for wildfire mitigation services.

We work with the DNR as a cost-share contractor in providing the needed treatment for your forested lands to become more resilient to insect infestation, disease and wildfire.

A Few FAQ’s answered by the Washington State DNR.

Q: What is the purpose of this cost-share program?

A: This program is intended to encourage eligible non-federal forest owners to implement practices which improve forest health and reduce the risk from wildfire and insect infestation on forest lands in Eastern Washington.

Q: Who funds and administers the program?

A: The program is funded by federal wildfire hazard reduction and forest health grant funds from the USDA Forest Service and state forest health restoration funds appropriated by the Washington State Legislature. The program is administered by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Q: Are there minimum and maximum acreage requirements?

A: Minimum: There is no minimum acreage requirement for the Forest Stand Improvement (FSI) practices (e.g. thinning, pruning, slash disposal). There is a 20-acre minimum for cost-shared Forest Stewardship Plans. There is a $500 minimum cost-share approval amount for all applications. Maximum: The applicant can own no more than 5,000 total forested acres within the State of Washington. Public agencies are exempt from the 5,000-acre maximum ownership requirement.

Q: How much cost-sharing can a landowner receive?

A: Approved applicants are reimbursed for 50% of their total actual cost, not to exceed the maximum reimbursement rate shown in the enclosed Cost-Share Rate Schedule. Reimbursement is made at the rates in effect at the time the application was originally approved, regardless of the current rates in effect at the time the work is actually completed.

  • I recently hired R&S Land Management for two projects on my property, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. First, they did an excellent job with fire mitigation, clearing trees and brush to ensure the safety of my home. Afterward, I brought them in to gravel an area for RV parking and to widen my driveway. The work was completed with the same level of care and professionalism, and the results exceeded my expectations. The team at R&S Land Management is reliable, efficient, and thorough. I highly recommend them for any land management needs!

  • We couldn’t be happier with the outstanding work done by Cole, Johnny, and their team on our 12.5-acre property. They completed the project under a Department of Natural Resources grant with professionalism, punctuality, and clear communication throughout. From start to finish, their dedication to achieving exceptional results was evident. The team not only met but exceeded our expectations, and we’re thrilled with the outcome. We’re already planning to have them back next season to work on an additional 15 acres. As a local small business, they’ve earned our trust and highest recommendation. If you’re considering any land management services, you won’t find a better team! From
